Xi Studios is the combined practice of two careers spanning conservatory stages in Beijing, primetime broadcast in Canada, festival stages from Edinburgh to Avignon, and the development and financing rooms in between. We have been the actor, the producer, the director, the educator, and the journalist — and we know exactly what each seat needs.
THE CRAFT
Classical conservatory training in drama and voice. Stage work including Shakespeare and Chekhov. Representing China at international theatre festivals. And a formative stint in broadcast journalism that trained our eye for real human stories.
THE SCREEN
More than twenty film and television credits as performer and producer. A four‑season primetime drama — the first in North American broadcast history with an all‑Asian cast and English and Chinese as equal performing languages — earning Canadian Screen Award nominations and Leo Award wins. Multiple award‑winning commercial direction and production for national broadcasters, airlines, banks, and charities. Executive production and content financing across film, television, and interactive media.
THE BRIDGE
Co‑founders of a North American film association for cultural exchange and international co‑production. Advisors to international studios and arts institutions on both sides of the Pacific. Founders of a pioneering children’s theatre company whose students performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and Festival d’Avignon, earning international recognition for arts education.
THE LANGUAGES
Native in Mandarin and Cantonese; working fluently in English and Chinese. Every service we offer is delivered in both languages, in both cultures, seamlessly.
